IRENA´s newest report on Investment for North Macedonia

The report provides an overview of the renewable energy financing and policy landscape in North Macedonia.

This report, prepared by the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) under the Climate Promise Cooperation Framework, aims to identify barriers and provide risk mitigation recommendations for renewable energy investments to assist North Macedonia in accelerating the implementation of its enhanced NDC. The report provides an overview of the renewable energy financing and policy landscape in North Macedonia; identifies barriers and associated risks that may hinder private sector investment in renewable energy, with a focus on electricity and heating and cooling; and presents recommendations on policy frameworks and financial risk mitigation tools to increase renewable energy investment, taking into account the need for a post-Covid recovery agenda that focuses on resilience, development, and equality.
