TEIAS plans two new 2 GW transmission lines near Istanbul

Turkish power transmission company TEIAS has awarded Prysmian one 140m the European and Asian part, the other across the Izmit Gulf in the Asian part.

The first project, called Dardanelles III, is a 2 GW double-circuit high-voltage submarine cable link across the Dardanelles Strait between Europe and Asia with a length of 4.2 km. It will be the third submarine transmission line across the Dardanelles Strait. The second project, Izmit Gulf Crossing, consists of a 2-GW high-voltage dual-circuit submarine cable link to be installed near the Osman Gazi Bridge in the Izmit Gulf with a length of 14 km. Each power link includes two single-core HVAC (High Voltage Alternating Current) cables of 400 kV. Both are scheduled to be completed by 2023.
