Turkey is to launch several solar energy mini tenders

In the next 2 months, Turkey plans to launch several solar energy mini tenders for its Renewable Energy Resource Zones to attract solar investment, particularly for SMEs. As the Minister of Energy and Natural Resources of Turkey stated at the first Turkish Solar Energy Industry Association (GENSED) Solar Energy Summit, the tender will cover solar power plants with 1000 MW total capacity that will spread across 36 different regions.

Energy transition is a crucial element of the economic growth. Reflecting on the previous years of solar energy development in Turkey, the installed solar capacity increased from 40 MW in 2014 to 6630 MW. In 2020, renewable energy installed capacity reached 49 500 MW and the share of our total installed capacity accounts for 51, 7%.
