Croatia adopts climate change strategy

The Croatian Climate Change Adaptation Strategy for the period until 2040 was adopted on 9 April. It provides an assessment of climate change with possible impacts and vulnerability assessments.

The strategy contains 83 climate change adaptation measures defined for all the sectors in line with the objectives of the European Green Deal. The document raises awareness on the threats of climate change for the society and the concept of climate change adaptation in the context of existing policies.

The Croatian Climate Change Adaptation Strategy demonstrates the vulnerability of sectors to climate change, including eight key sectors:

  • water resources
  • agriculture
  • forestry
  • fisheries
  • biodiversity
  • energy
  • tourism
  • health

and two cross-cutting thematic areas:

  • spatial planning
  • risk management

The strategy cointains an outlook on climate change with the view of 2070.
