The Energy Community Secretariat published a study on smart grids for a smarter energy system
To maximize system reliability, resilience and stability and minimize costs and environmental impacts, the recent study by the Energy Community gives an overview of the current situation of smart grids and smart meter penetration in the member states.
The study proposes regional cooperation in the framework of common projects (for example smart meter roll-out, implementation of a wide area monitoring system and demand side management) between the Energy Community Contracting Parties. The digital transformation of the electricity networks especially investment into smart grid projects is also encouraged by the study.
