EBRD banking on another solar project in Ukraine

The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) will provide 7 million euros (7.9 million US dollars) for the second phase of a 72 MWp solar project in northwestern Ukraine

The funding is earmarked for the development, construction and operation of a 36 MWp photovoltaic (PV) park near the town of Ternovytsa in the Lviv region. It will be extended to Energopark Yavoriv LLC, a specialist vehicle built for the construction of the solar park.Total investment for the Yavoriv-2 project is estimated at EUR 27.8 million. In February 2018, the EBRD agreed to extend the debt for the first phase of the PV project by EUR 17.3 million.By operating the 36 MWp plant, 39,708 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions are saved each year. The Yavoriv power park is mostly owned by businessman Zinoviy Kozitskiy, whose core business focused on oil and gas production, but is now investing in line with global renewable energy trends, the EBRD said earlier. The lender noted that its solar project will help Ukraine reach the target of increasing the share of renewable energy in primary energy production to 25% by 2035. More information....
