Romania: New Benefits for Prosumers

As of January 1, 2019, households in Romania are now allowed to sell the surplus electricity from renewable energy production in their households to the grid. The amendment of the Renewable Energy Law in July 2018 helped remove obstacles to end-consumers to feed extra electricity to the grid, while also introducing the concept of prosumers. As a result of this amendment, prosumers do not have to obtain any authorization or pay taxes on the energy they supply to the grid.
