Belarus Grodno region`s first biogas plant launched

The project worth about $ 5 million was completed in just one year, thanks to the attraction of foreign and domestic investments.

Grodno region’s first biogas plant has been launched in the Shchuchin district. The technology that allows receiving electricity from organic waste was provided by a Lithuanian company. One of the Belarusian banks was a partner of the project.

As a result, the power plant with a capacity of 5 megawatts will annually produce about 40 million kilowatt hours of clean electricity for consumption within the country. This is enough to ensure the need for electricity of a whole village. Due to the active development of animal husbandry in the country, the construction of biogas plants is a promising direction of green energy. An agreement has already been reached with potential investors on the construction of twomore similar bio-power plants in the Shchuchin district.
