Poland to diversify energy mix

Poland will target a 60% share of coal in the country's total energy mix in 2030, and will aim to reduce it further to below 30% to 2040, the Ministry of Energy said of its energy policy draft.

The Polish government expects to build 6 GW to 9 GW of nuclear power capacity by 2043 and to have the country’s first offshore wind farm up and running after 2025. A 21% share of renewable energy sources in final gross energy consumption is targeted for 2030. Poland will reduce its CO2 footprint by 30 percent compared to 1990 and increase energy efficiency by 23 percent by 2030 as compared to the 2007 forecast. More information can be found here…
