Čibuk 1 will start its production earlier as planned

Čibuk1 wind farm in Serbia reached the key construction milestone

According to the press release of Masdar, the Čibuk1 wind farm in Serbia reached the key construction milestone and it is expected to start production earlier than its expected foreseeably early next year. The wind farm, which is situated in Dolovo, outside of Belgrade, will consist of 57 wind turbines (158-megawatt); and expected to provide electricity to 113,000 homes and repress more than 370,000 tons of carbon dioxide per year. Until now, 52 wind turbines have been fully constructed. The power purchase agreement (PPA) was signed in October 2016 and Serbia committed to produce 27 per cent of its domestic power needs from renewable energy sources by 2020 in order to reduce the dependence on coal fired power generation. The project was carried out by the collaboration of Masdar, Taaleri Energia and DEG with the aim to develop the largest utility-scale commercial wind project in Serbia.
