Ljubljana is new host of ACER
Ljubljana is going to host the seat of the New European Agency for Cooperation of Energy Regulators, EU member states decided on December 6th. According to the founding regulation of ACER, the Agency needs to be fully operational as of 3 March 2011.
ACER will play a key role in the liberalisation process of the EU electricity and gas markets. It will contribute to the introduction of system operation directives for European power and gas grids and help adopt binding decisions on the terms regarding the access to cross-border infrastructure and the operational safety. In addition ACER will provide counselling to European institutions on the the issues regarding electricity and complement and coordinate the work of National Regulatory Authorities.
