EVN Macedonia increases Electricity Production from RES by 50 percent
In one of it’s latest press releases EVN Macedonia stated that the revitalization of 11 small hydro power plants and the introduction of modern technology have resulted in the increase of electricity production from renewable energy sources by 50 % in 2009.
These positive achievements are inter alia the result of significant investments in small hydro power plants. Eleven HPPs were revitalized substantially and fitted up with state of the art electronic, mechanic and hydraulic equipment. The capacity of the HPP in Matka was increased by 50 %, in Pena by 28 % and in Kalimantsi by 15 %, for instance.
The average annual production of all 11 small HPP on average amounted to 100 Million kWh in the past decade, whereas the 2009 output rose to 150 Million kWh.
