Energy Policy
In accordance with Article 7 of the EU Energy Efficiency Directive, Croatia adopted the third National Energy Efficiency Action Plan in 2014. This requires additional annual savings of 1.5 % of the reference consumption as well as a cumuluative final energy savings target of 1.3 Mtoe over 2014-2020.
In March 2020, Croatia adopted its Energy Development Strategy until 2030 with a view to 2050, to replace the previous one issued in 2009 covering the period until 2020.
It aims at ensuring sustainable energy production reducing import dependence, improving energy efficiency, and developing strategic infrastructures.
In December 2020, the National Energy and Climate Plan (NECP) for the period 2021-2030 was adopted. It aims at improving energy efficiency and energy security, decarbonising the energy system thanks to renewables and integrating the energy markets.
