Ministry of Trade and Industry

The Ministry of Trade and Industry / Section of Energy Sector is in charge of energy policy. There are four departments:

  • Unit of International Relations in Energy,
  • Department of Electric Power and Heat Production,
  • Department for Mining Industry,
  • Gas and Liquid Fuels Department,
  • Department for Eco-Energy.

Czech Energy Agency

The Czech Energy Agency, an organisation under supervision of the Ministry of Industry and Trade, is the national energy agency of Czech Republic. It is responsible for the promotion of energy efficiency and renewable energy sources.

CEA also has the task to evaluate the State Programs for financial subsidies for implementation of the energy savings equipments and reduction of the negative environmental of energy production, and it is the implementing agency for the EU Structural Funds, namely Operation Programme Industry and Enterprise (OPPP), in the area delimited by measure N° 2.3 "Energy Intensity Reduction and Use of Renewable Energy Sources". [RUSE]

CEA is member of the European Energy Network (EnR).

State Energy Inspection

The State Energy Inspection Board is the inspection body to supervise the activities in the energy sectors. Its responsibilities are defined in the Energy Act.

Energy Regulatory Office

ERÚ is the national regulatory authority in the energy sector. Its main tasks are defined as the support of economic competition, the support of the use of renewable and secondary energy sources, and the protection of consumers' interests in the areas of energy sector where competition is not feasible.

It is composed of a Regulation Section, a Licensing Department, a Strategy Department and the ERO Bureau Department.

Electricity Market Operator (OTE a.s.)

OTE a.s. was Edstablished by the Ministry of Industry and Trade as a joint stock company. Its tasks and responsibilities are defined in the energy law. Besides its tasks related to the electricity market OTE is also the administrator of the Czech registry for greenhouse gas allowances trading.

State Office for Nuclear Safety

The SÚJB is a governmental regulatory body responsible for governmental administration and supervision in the fields of uses of nuclear energy and radiation and of radiation protection.

Ministry of the Environment

The Ministry of the Environment is responsible for the allocation of funds through the State Environmental Fund and for the State programme for support of renewable energy sources.

CZ BIOM - Czech Biomass Association

CZ BIOM is a non-governmental organisation, which supports development of phytoenergetics in Czech republic. CZ BIOM is member of AEBIOM.

SEVEn

SEVEn, the centre for energy efficiency, is an independent organisation which is not affiliated to any domestic or foreign organisation. SEVEn focuses on overcoming the barriers to practical energy savings in industry, residential and commercial sectors.SEVEn is involved in the following programs:

CityPlan spol. s r.o.

CityPlan Ltd. is a multidisciplinary professional consulting, engineering, design and planning firm established in 1992. CityPlan offers experience in a wide range of projects in the energy, transportation, civil and environmental fields, including budget and financial analysis.

ENVIROS, s.r.o.

Enviros is an energy and environmental consultancy company.

Ekowatt

Ekowatt - The Renewable Energy Sources and Energy Efficiency Centre – offers services, e.g. energy audits, optimizing of energy systems, project development. (Website only in Czech).

Czech Environmental Information Institute

The Czech Environment Information Agency (CENIA) was founded on the grounds of the Czech Environment Institute on 1 April 2005. The Czech Environmental Institute (CEI) had been established in the year 1992. It is founded by the Ministry of Environment. The founding document states as its purpose of the allowance organization to perform synthetic research in ecology and environmental protection and provide professional support to public administration in the area of integrated prevention.

Hnutí Duha

Hnutí Duha is the Czech Member Organisation of Friends of the Earth. The NGO founded the Clean Energy Brigades in 1994, which lead to the International Energy Brigades Programme, that is currently active in Bulgaria, Georgia, Hungary, Macedonia, Slovak Republic and Ukraine.

Calla

The environmental NGO Calla was founded in 1991. One of its areas of activity is energy. On their website, Calla offers a map of renewable energy installations (small hydropower, wind power, biomass, biogas, solar thermal and heat pumps) all over Czech Republic, each with a brief description.

Technology Centre of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic (TCASCR)

TCASCR is a consortium of legal entities (institutes of the Academy of Sciences of the CR). The consortium is open also to legal entitities outside the Academy of Sciences of the Czech Republic.

It is the national information centre for European Research, is involved in technology transfer and strategic studies and projects, as well as regional development.

Association for the District Heating of the Czech Republic (ADH CR)

ADH CR is an interest group of legal entities, entrepreneurs in the field of heat supply established in 1991.

Czech Association for Wind Energy (CSVE)

CSVE (website only in Czech language) is the association promoting wind energy in Czech Republic. CSVE has initiated the German-Czech wind energy information server.

Small Hydropower Association

SPVEZ is an association of entrepreneurs in the field of utilization of renewable energy sources.
