The deviation of electricity demand per GDP of a country from that of Austria or the EU average indicates, how efficiently electricity is utilised in the respective economy in comparison to the EU or to Austria, or, conversely, which gains in efficiency are to be realised. If the electricity demands per GDP decreases - what can be expected for the future in CEE countries - more national income in the form of GDP will be produced with the same amount of electricity (the black bars in the figure will decrease in this case).

Prices

Electricity

FERC (Federal Energy Regulatory Commission) and RERS (Regulatory Commission for electricity of Republic of Srpska) are the electricity regulators and are responsible for setting the price. As usual, tariffs are dependent on the day time of the usage and on the season.

The average electricity prices in 2007 for the residential sector amounted to approximately € 4.5c/kWh in the summer months and in the winter months to approximately € 6c/kWh. For the industrial sector it ranges between € 2c/kWh and € 5c/kWh depending on the season.

Oil products

Prices for oil products, 2007

Gasoline

€ 0.90/l

Diesel

€ 0.92/l

The prices are lower than the EU average.

Gas

In 2007, the average price of gas amounted to approximately €0.46/m3 for industry and €0.36/m3 for the residential sector.
