EIB lends € 53 M to Poland to replace a coal-fired boiler with a biomass one

European Investment Bank (EIB) will lend € 53 M for the construction and operation of a biomass boiler at Jaworzno III Power Plant in Poland.

The biomass boiler will have a capacity of 50 MWe and 45 MWth and will replace one of the existing coal-fired boilers.

Last year, the EIB provided co-financing in the area of renewable energy resources of € 44.5 M for the contraction of a wind farm in Margonin, and € 50 M for Green Investment Schemes, enabling Poland to invest the proceeds of the sale of carbon emission credits to Spain and UK, in greenhouse gas mitigation activities.
